Flat turns are commonly avoided on motocross tracks due to their high technical aspect. To ride a flat turn well you need to have a few things working well for you such as body position, line selection, throttle control and gear selection. The exercises shown in this video are proven skills that will help your flat turns out a lot.

ONE: First up lets work on keeping the outside elbow nice and high. You do this by sliding your outside hand across the grip. by having the outside elbow high you will have more strength and control over your bike.

TWO: Get forward on the seat as much as you comfortably can. The only way you can increase the grip on the front wheel is by getting more body weight over it.

THREE: Practice these exercises on as many different surfaces as you can and by doing this off the track in a controlled exercise you have much more time to thinks about technique which will improve your flat turn skills quickly.
