Flat turns are one of the most avoided types of turns on a motocross track. Riders who aren't comfortable to attack the flat turns will almost head out to the berm every time. If you spend a little time and learn the techniques shown in this coaching video you will make vast improvements and acutlly strt to enjoy being able to ride flat turns better.

ONE: The entry line is the first place to make a change. You want to get out to the far outside and start to arc the bike in under brakes. Too many riders come straight up the inside and all this does is make the turn super tight and hard to negotiate.

TWO: Easy on tem brakes. You want a nice controlled braking zone and try your best not to lock up the rear wheel as this will unsettle the the bike and you will either stall it or run wide.

THREE: When going from standing to seated position be sure to sit on the outside edge of the seat and keep your outside elbow up nice and high so that you have control of the your bike.

FOUR: As mentioned in the video be smooth on the throttle. every time you unsettle the bike the harder it is to get through a flat turn.
