Motocross Coaching Video - Skills Wheelie
The slow wheelie is one of the best all round skills exercises you can do on your bike.

ONE: Make sure you are sitting towards the back of the seat, have your foot covering the rear brake at all times and make sure you are in first gear.

TWO: Level 1 is where you should start. Use a small amount of throttle along with a quick but controlled release of the clutch, this should get the front wheel off the ground. Once the front wheel is in the air pull the clutch straight back in. Practice this until you are comfortable getting the front wheel off the ground.

THREE: Level two of the slow wheelie involves popping the front wheel up as you've already practiced, but now you want to use the rear brake to bring the front wheel back down. This is the most important level to practice, you want to practice using the rear brake enough so that you do it without having to think about it. This is what will stop you from flipping your bike!

FOUR: Level three comes along after many hours of practice. Here you are trying to keep the bike at the balance point by controlling the correct amount of throttle, clutch and rear brake use. Too much throttle and the the bike will flip, too little and the front wheel will be back on the ground. Once you master the wheelie it is possible to touch the rear fender on the ground and ride away from it as you see in the photo. Be aware if you do flip your it may cause expensive damage to your bike!
